Pro Bono Placement
At McCormack Schreiber, we offer search and placement services to nonprofit organizations at a reduced fee or on a complementary basis. We believe that such an arrangement benefits these organizations by offering them the same high level of attorney placement services as our traditional law firm and corporate clients, thus assisting them to find the best lawyers and legal staff for their organizations.
Volunteer Activities, Sponsorships and Professional Organization Involvement
At McCormack Schreiber, we are proud to volunteer our time and services to a number of excellent nonprofit and legal organizations.
We have volunteered for years at The Cara Program, an NPO which offers job training and placement services to individuals affected by homelessness and poverty. We assist Cara students with mock interviews, providing interview training and education in an effort to help them to achieve their ultimate goal of successful employment. We are also proud to support a number of other local organizations, including the Special Olympics of Illinois, Coalition of Women's Initiatives in Law, Hephzibah Children's Association, River Forest Youth Soccer Limited, First Defense Legal Aid, Network for Good, Step Up Women's Network and Children's Memorial Foundation.
Further, we volunteer in assisting law students through their law school placement offices with career guidance and resume assistance. We have recently volunteered at such law schools as the University of Michigan Law School, Northwestern University School of Law, Washington University School of Law in Saint Louis and Boston University School of Law.
We also participate in conferences and panels for a number of legal organizations, including the National Association for Law Placement (NALP), the Chicago Association of Legal Personnel Administrators (CALPA), InsideCounsel, the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL), and the Chicago Bar Association. McCormack Schreiber will be an exhibitor at the upcoming 2015 NALP Annual Education Conference this coming April.
In addition, in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, we supported and participated in Race Judicata, a 5K Run/Walk which benefits Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. McCormack Schreiber also was a sponsor of the 2012 Transformative Leadership Awards dinner, which honors in-house counsel and law firm partners who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in corporate law.
Our professionals also volunteer individually. Currently, Amy McCormack is a Board Member for the Early Childhood Collaboration in Oak Park. Greg Veza and Valerie Fegan perform volunteer services for local nonprofit One Million Degrees, a nonprofit that provides programs to low-income highly motivated community college students. Greg Veza is also an Auxilary Counsel Member of Steppenwolf Theatre and Associate Board Member of Legal Prep Charter Academics.
Finally, since 1988 McCormack Schreiber Legal Search has been an active member of the National Association of Legal Search Consultants (NALSC), the only existing organization to set ethical standards for the legal recruiting industry, and from 2004 to 2008 Amy McCormack served as an elected member of the NASLC Board of Directors.
