McCormack Schreiber is proud of our involvement in nonprofit, volunteer and community activities, as well as our commitment to pro bono placements.
Volunteer Sponsorships, Activities and Professional Organization Involvement
At McCormack Schreiber, we are proud to support and volunteer our services to a number of legal, nonprofit and other community organizations.
We regularly participate in conferences and panels for a number of legal organizations, including the National Association for Law Placement (NALP), the Chicago Association of Legal Personnel Administrators (CALPA), InsideCounsel, the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL), and the Chicago Bar Association.
In addition, we have supported and participated in Race Judicata, a 5K Run/Walk which benefits Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. We were a prior sponsor of the Transformative Leadership Awards dinner, which honors in-house counsel and law firm partners who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in corporate law. We have volunteered at The Cara Program, an NPO which offers job training and placement services to individuals affected by homelessness and poverty.
We also volunteer our time yearly to assist law students through law school placement offices with career guidance and resume assistance. We have recently volunteered at such law schools as the University of Michigan Law School, Northwestern University School of Law and Washington University School of Law.
Further, we are proud to provide financial support to such organizations as the Special Olympics of Illinois, Coalition of Women's Initiatives in Law, Hephzibah Children's Association, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Lupus Society of Illinois, Lurie Children's Foundation, U.S. Holocaust Memorial, Step Up Women's Network and Children's Memorial Foundation.
Our professionals volunteer individually as well. Amy McCormack is a Board Member for the Early Childhood Collaboration in Oak Park. Greg Veza and Valerie Fegan perform volunteer services for local nonprofit One Million Degrees, a nonprofit that provides programs to low-income highly motivated community college students. Greg Veza is an Auxilary Counsel Member of Steppenwolf Theatre and sponsors a family through RefugeeOne. Scott Walton is a volunteer coach for AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) and participates yearly in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's MS Walk.
Finally, since 1988, McCormack Schreiber Legal Search has been an active member of the National Association of Legal Search Consultants (NALSC), the only existing organization that sets ethical standards for the legal recruiting industry. From 2004 to 2008 Amy McCormack served as an elected member of the NASLC Board of Directors.
Pro Bono Placement
At McCormack Schreiber, we offer search and placement services to nonprofit organizations at a reduced fee or on a complementary basis. We believe that such an arrangement benefits these organizations by offering them the same high level of attorney placement services as our traditional law firm and corporate clients, thus assisting them to find the best lawyers and legal staff for their organizations.
