About the Position:
Our client, a national law firm, with strong Midwest ties, is actively seeking an attorney with ERISA experience (8+ yrs) to join its Chicago office at the partner level. The attorneys in this multidisciplinary practice group handle all aspects of employee benefits and executive compensation arrangements. This firm represents companies ranging from startups to Fortune 500 corporations and was recently named in Crain’s Chicago Business’ annual list of Chicago’s Largest Law Firms.

Responsibilities:
· Design, draft, and support defined contribution plans, defined benefit plans, employee stock ownership plans, and employee welfare plans
· Advise clients on executive compensation programs and ensure compliance with ERISA, tax, and related laws
· Provide legal support for mergers and acquisitions
· Handle controversy work related to employee benefit plans
Required Qualifications:
· 8 or more years of experience in ERISA, employee benefits, and executive compensation matters
· Extensive knowledge of ESOP transactions and advising existing ESOPs
· Knowledge of ERISA, tax, and related laws in connection with employee benefit plans
· Exceptional oral and written communication skills
