We are working with a preeminent Am Law firm that has an immediate need for a patent associate or agent with 3+ years of patent counseling experience, including preparation and prosecution, to join its cutting-edge practice in Chicago. The attorneys in this practice help clients ranging from start-ups to commercial-stage enterprises secure, manage, and enforce their patents around the world.

Responsibilities:
· Draft, prepare, and prosecute domestic and international patent applications
· Prepare patent opinions in biotechnology and related fields
· Handle patent prosecution matters before the USPTO
Required Qualifications:
· 3 or more years of experience in patent counseling, including preparation and prosecution experience
· PhD in biological sciences or related field
· Must be registered to practice with the USPTO
· Experience drafting and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications
· Previous experience preparing patent opinions in biotechnology or similar field is preferred
· Strong legal writing and research skills
· Excellent academic credentials

Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,000 – $260,000.
