About the Position:
Our client, a leading international law firm, has an active need for an energy lawyer to join its highly-regarded practice group in Chicago. This firm’s Energy practice serves a wide range of clients in both traditional and newly deregulated energy markets, as well as those pioneering innovative energy technologies, and has been named as a top firm for combatting climate change.

Responsibilities:
· Lead the drafting and negotiation of power purchase agreements, energy service agreements, and complex interconnection arrangements on behalf of developers, utilities, and corporate buyers
· Represent clients in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and advise on compliance involving market-based rate programs, qualifying facilities and exempt wholesale generators, and interlocks
· Counsel clients on emerging energy policy, renewable energy integration, and carbon-free energy procurement strategies
· Advise clients on complex electric market design issues within RTOs/ISOs

Required Qualifications:
· 6+ years of energy law experience, including managing complex transactions and regulatory filings from inception to completion
· Strong knowledge of the Federal Power Act, wholesale power markets, and power transaction structures
· Excellent academic credentials

Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $245,000 – $420,000.
