About the Position:
Our client, a renowned international law firm, is seeking an experienced risk management and ethics attorney to join its Chicago office as an assistant general counsel. The firm represents businesses and individuals in high-stakes litigation and advises on complex transactions, intellectual property strategy, and private wealth matters, with a focus on industries including technology, life sciences, healthcare, financial services, and energy.

Responsibilities:
· Advise firm leadership and staff on legal, business, and client matters, develop compliance policies, and support the General Counsel and conflicts/intake teams
· Investigate and oversee the defense of claims involving the firm and its personnel; retain outside defense counsel when needed
· Oversee professional liability and cyber insurance procurement, assist personnel with insurance questions, as well as advise on attorney ethics, conflicts, and risk mitigation
· Collaborate with the finance team on accounts receivable management and oversee collection efforts

Required Qualifications:
· At least 5 years of experience working in a law firm environment
· Experience with professional responsibility, attorney ethics, loss prevention, and risk management preferred; litigation background also desirable
· Ability to cultivate an approachable General Counsel’s office and encourage attorneys and staff to seek guidance regularly

Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $320,000 – $375,000.
