Job Overview

About the Position:
Our client is seeking an attorney to join its Compensation and Benefits practice group. The group advises on sophisticated, high-impact benefit and compensation matters spanning the full lifecycle of a company’s workforce and transactions. Attorneys in this practice counsel clients on tax-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare programs, ERISA compliance, and benefit issues arising in complex corporate transactions.

Responsibilities:
· Guide clients through the design, administration, and ERISA compliance of qualified retirement and health and welfare programs
· Provide benefits guidance on the M&A and broader corporate transactions that clients undertake
· Prepare plan documentation and disclosures while advising on compliance testing, IRS and Department of Labor filings and audits, and correction work

Required Qualifications:
· 6+ years counseling employers on qualified retirement and health and welfare programs, with a solid command of ERISA requirements, plan structuring, ongoing administration, and the surrounding regulatory landscape
· Experience advising on the employee benefits dimensions of M&A deals and other corporate transactions
· A background in preparing plan documentation and participant disclosures, running compliance testing, managing IRS and Department of Labor filings and audits, and handling plan corrections
· Strong academic credentials and excellent communication skills, including oral and written

Location:
Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $390,000+.
