Our client, a highly regarded Chicago-based professional liability insurer, is seeking a senior attorney to join its underwriting team in a unique, partner-caliber role.
This organization has a strong track record of hiring accomplished attorneys from leading law firms (both insurance coverage lawyers and commercial litigators) and providing a long-term platform to apply their judgment, client skills, and legal training in a more sustainable, business-oriented environment.
Attorneys in this role work closely with sophisticated law firm clients on complex risk and coverage matters, including firm growth, lateral movement, and structural changes, while also playing a central role in underwriting decisions.

· Collaborate internally on underwriting strategy, policy development, and client service

· 10-15+ years of experience in a leading law firm or comparable in-house role
· Either:
· Strong insurance coverage experience or
· Broad-based litigation experience with strong client-facing skills and interest in the insurance space
· Underwriting experience not required
· Excellent academic and professional credentials
· Strong judgment, communication skills, and client presence

The anticipated salary for this position is approximately $325,000.
