About the Position:
Our client, a Midwest-based national law firm, is seeking a patent prosecution attorney to join its cutting-edge practice as an associate (must have experience or undergraduate degree in electrical/mechanical engineering or computer science). This firm’s Intellectual Property team provides a full range of prosecution and enforcement services relating to patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, and clients range from start-ups to Fortune 50 companies.

Responsibilities:
· Prepare and handle prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications across multiple disciplines
· Advise clients on IP strategy, portfolio management, and patent enforcement
· Perform analyses on patentability, freedom-to-operate, infringement, and validity
· Support IP litigation teams with technical analysis, discovery, and expert coordination when necessary
· Stay informed on USPTO procedures, key case law, and international IP issues

Required Qualifications:
· 2-5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience
· Undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or computer science
· Advanced degree or relevant industry/technical work experience with electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or computer science is a strong plus

Location:
Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $214,500 – $265,000.
